Gearing up for the Cure Kids Great Adventure Race 2018

By

Theta

The next Cure Kids Great Adventure Race takes place on 17 March 2018. Our fundraising efforts are already well under way, and this year we hope to be able to enter two Theta teams in the race, with team members from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

We have raised almost $11,000 so far for Cure Kids – just over half of our fundraising target. And after watching this video and hearing from Kelly at a recent fundraising event, we’re confident that the Theta community will dig deep and help us meet our goal.

Fundraising activities so far this year include:

Two international lunches, in Auckland and Christchurch.

Staff brought in a range of international delicacies, from kiwi-as pav to southland cheese rolls, biryani, dumplings, Brazilian salad, Finnish rye bread, Irn Bru, samosas and kangaroo stew. We ate our way around the world, in support of Cure Kids. Win-win!

Comedy night at the Classic

This fun event, with comedians Justine Smith, James Nokise, Guy Williams and James Roque raised lots of laughs as well as $2,500 for Cure Kids, through ticket sales, raffles and auctions on the night.

Hillary Trail run

Serial adventurers and Cure Kids race stalwarts Alan and Julia Moore hosted a 2-day Hillary trail run last month. As always there were adventures to be had – thanks to flooded streams and plenty of mud. They even received some donations from a couple running the trail who had heard about the event!

Coming up

We have a fundraising BBQ in Auckland planned for Thursday 14 December, and other events in the pipeline. Keep an eye on this blog or follow us on social media to keep up with our adventures in training and fundraising this adventure race season! And if you'd like to support the team, you can make a donation on our Cure Kids fundraising page.
