The ongoing deregulation of the Energy Industry and more recent changes such as smart metering and emissions trading continue to increase the information requirements in this sector. The physical volume of data is also increasing which means that many of the spreadsheet and desktop applications originally used for information analysis are no longer suitable. This is leading to the continued growth in the use of data warehousing and business intelligence in the Energy sector.

Complexity has also increased. Energy Trading, for example, now requires increased integration with other areas of the business and more advanced capability in the toolsets used.

Theta has in-depth experience in data warehousing, business intelligence and associated reporting across the sector, including Generation, Retail, Trading and Risk. We understand the different categories of information that are available and how to best deal with these - from internal applications such as Plant Control Systems to external information providers who supply market data.
