Founded in 1995, Theta is a NZ-owned IT consultancy with offices in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Tauranga. Our team of more than 200 experienced professionals help organisations like yours – in New Zealand and around the world – to transform their businesses with technology.
We create smarter solutions, together.
We’re analytics, digital, business solutions and systems management specialists. From strategy to implementation and beyond, we’ll deliver and support a solution that does exactly what you want, the way you want it. Our technical experts and project delivery team work with you to get your project across the line and get it right. First time.
We aspire to be the technology company of choice for NZ customers, and the workplace of choice for IT professionals.
Five values underscore all that we do:
Theta began back in 1995, when five independent contractors, with a prod in the right direction from Steve Saunders (who went on to become our first CEO, from 2007-2010) got together to form a company. We called it a “virtual company” back then, thinking that sounded better than saying we didn’t have an office.
We have an office now – three in fact! In 2000 we moved into Theta’s first premises, in Auckland’s Albert Street. Three years later we had outgrown that space and signed the lease on what is still part of Theta HQ today, in Beresford Square.
The acquisition of Wellington-based Prophesy and opening an office in the capital in 2011 were the first steps towards a more nationwide presence.
We acquired MicroStrategy specialists Indigo in 2014, and SharePoint experts IGA systems the following year, enabling us to grow these areas of the company.
We also opened our Christchurch office in 2015, to support an expanding South Island customer base, and an office in Tauranga in 2017.
In 2002 we updated our company structure with the appointment of a managing director and our first independent director. Steve Saunders became our first CEO in 2007, and current CEO Rob Lee took the helm three years later.
Two of our founders still work in the business, as does our first ever staff member. And of the four customers we had when we started out, three are still customers.
