Red nose day marks the beginning of our 2016-17 Cure Kids fundraising campaign. Cure Kids funds scientific research into the life-threatening childhood diseases and conditions affecting New Zealand children and their families. We’ve raised $72,000 for the charity over the past five years, and will continue supporting this great cause through a series of raffles, auctions and other fundraising activities.
We had already planned this fundraiser when the Kaikoura earthquake struck. Thankfully our staff in Wellington have come through safely and our office building on The Terrace has had the all clear. But we wanted to do something to help the people of Kaikoura. Says Theta CEO Rob Lee:
“Our staff are a generous bunch – digging deep for causes that matter. Like everyone in New Zealand, we were concerned for the people in Kaikoura and surrounding communities after the recent earthquakes, and wanted to help. So we decided to match funds raised for Cure Kids on Red Nose Day with a donation to Red Cross, who are doing a great job of supporting people in the South Island affected by the recent earthquakes.”
We matched and bettered the amount raised for Cure Kids with a $2000 donation to Red Cross for their Kaikoura earthquake appeal.
