A typical IT strategy or IT review engagement includes creating a 2-3 year IT roadmap plan with a prioritised timeline and indicative budget, and optionally a review of the operating model required to deliver and support the program of work.

To create this strategy our consultants work with you to review your systems and business strategy and collaboratively develop the roadmap. This involves work to:

  • Identify the essential technology capabilities that drive or enable the success of your organisation
  • Review the existing applications and capability 
  • Create an envisioned future state - we combine our broad industry knowledge and understanding of the current technology landscape to create a future state view
  • Conduct a gap analysis
  • Develop a high-level roadmap and supporting business case that outlines which initiatives need to be executed to close the gaps and achieve the future state strategy

The size of the engagement to do this depends on the size of your organisation, the level of detail you wish to achieve in the plan, and the amount of stakeholder engagement required.

Whether a high-level or deep-dive engagement is required, this will typically be achieved by taking a pragmatic approach to draw out the essential facts by:

  • Gaining an understanding of the business strategy and direction and the overall scope of the proposed IT strategy via workshops with senior leadership team members
  • Background analysis and interviews with key staff from the business and IT areas to identify current state of systems, operating model and develop priorities. 
  • Create and present draft plans – roadmap, model and structure for discussion with IT and/or the senior leadership team
  • Incorporate feedback and present back a final plan
