Award-winning ERP solution “the absolute key to Holdfast’s success”

Our Microsoft Dynamics NAV implementation for kiwi glue company Holdfast (now Soudal) has helped them increase efficiency, optimize inventory and purchasing cycles, reduce manual processes and improve cost accuracy.

This project won the Dynamics ERP Solution of the Year Award at the 2011 Microsoft New Zealand Partner Awards.

Modular, flexible NAV solution for the import and distribution sector

The system Henderson describes is built around the core NAV Advanced Management Edition and extended by custom-built and third party add-ons and modules. Developed initially for Holdfast, it has already proved modular and flexible enough to work for other customers.

We’ve developed and sourced add-ons to extend NAV and meet the specific needs of the import and distribution sector. An EDI server written in .NET with a Theta-developed interface to NAV meets EDI requirements and PDF/E-Mail distribution. Advanced Forecasting & Procurement helps Holdfast manage their stock, while barcode scanning optimizes warehouse handling. Our Consignment Management module handles all aspects of shipping dangerous goods, Advanced Landed Cost accurately calculates unit cost and true margin, and a sales promotion module makes it easier to build loyalty, introduce new products and upsell.

For the first time, Holdfast can generate a full print catalogue of their 2,500 products.

The Holdfast website, developed in ASP .NET, is integrated with NAV, and for the first time ever Holdfast can generate a full print catalogue of their 2,500 products – all from NAV at the push of a button.

An additional component makes Holdfast’s mobile sales force even more productive when they’re on the road. Using a CRM Connector and CWR Mobility Solution, sales reps’ mobile phones connect to Dynamics CRM, Reporting Services and NAV via Web Services.

Efficiency gains across the business

Just one add-on – Advanced Forecasting & Procurement – has allowed Holdfast to reduce their stock holding by a dramatic 30% within 3 months, and bring down an already low rate of lost sales from 3% of total sales to a fraction of a percent.

The EDI server now handles 25% of the orders Holdfast receives without any human intervention – price and item validation is automatic and a validation log points out unexpected discrepancies for further investigation. This saves time-consuming data entry, and eliminates costly returns and credits due to data entry errors.
