Theta tour of Auckland: second edition

By

Theta

It’s been 2 years since our first sightseeing bus tour and in that time we’ve had a number of people join our Auckland office who were new to New Zealand. The first Auckland sightseeing tour had been a hit, so we decided it was time to do it again!

This year we had 35 people come along, made up of staff and their families, plus Christine and Natalie (pictured below) who organised and hosted the trip.

We had representatives from most of our practices, so this was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to get to know each other and their families.

The first stop was Mt Eden, which gave us a 360⁰ perspective of Auckland and a chance to look at one of the city’s many volcanoes, and point out some of the others.

From there we headed to the Domain where we checked out the Wintergarden and the fernery before we met Rob, our CEO, at Mission Bay for lunch.  We found a great spot on the grass to sit and enjoy our fish and chips from the Fish Pot Café. It also gave the little and big kids in the group a chance to kick a ball around or play a game of Frisbee in the sunshine before we jumped back on the bus and headed along Tamaki Drive towards the Harbour Bridge.

After crossing the Bridge we made our way back Theta via Upper Harbour Highway, Western Springs, the Zoo and MOTAT.

Our bus driver Simon was incredibly knowledgeable about Auckland’s history and together with Christine they provided a great tour commentary.

This is a guest post by Natalie Finn. Thanks to everyone who came along, and to all those who shared their photos too.
