EVA Check-in, our finalist entry for the ISV Partner category, has been Highly Commended at the Microsoft Partner Awards 2020.

The ISV Partner Award category celebrates innovative and unique solutions demonstrating strong solution capability in an industry. Highly Commended accolades are held by only a few select entries that stood out in their categories.

Congratulations to all other finalists and winners. In what's been a challenging year, it was inspiring to hear about the continued dedication to achieving excellence. Well done to all the stellar people behind the projects – a job well done!

“Every finalist deserves the kudos for adapting this year; for solving problems we never expected to face; for getting to the finish line despite the extra hurdles. We are proud that we were finalists in five categories and especially that EVA Check-in met an emerging challenge. So we’re extremely pleased that it’s been recognised and Highly Commended by Microsoft. Congratulations to all the winners on the night.” Rob Lee, CEO

More about our Highly Commended solution, EVA Check-in:

EVA Check-in was invented by Theta's innovation lab in the midst of April's level 4 lockdown. A contactless check-in solution, it's designed to help organisations with their guest register requirements.

We built and launched EVA Check-in in just 12 days and, in the 6 months since then, it’s gone on to become a successful product with over 2.6 million contactless, fast and secure check-ins across more than 500 customers and thousands of sites.

The story so far

  • Privacy first - EVA Check-in encrypts all personal information received and holds it safely in Azure’s Australian data centre while collecting only the minimum amount of information required to perform the check-in. It doesn’t go offshore to countries with less stringent security and poor privacy records.
  • Success in Australia - the solution has also become the only QR code check-in technology listed in the contact tracing requirements and examples section of many of the Approved COVID Safe Industry Plans in Queensland. We've seen a broad uptake in Queensland sport – from swimming to bowls, athletics to hockey, speedway to tennis. In many cases, EVA Check-in has been implemented by the state-wide sports bodies - Football Queensland, Queensland Rugby League and Netball Queensland - and rolled out to clubs from there.
  • Evolution and future plans - we added support for kiosk mode, allowing customers to use any tablet device for check in – from Microsoft Surface to Android, to iPad. Next steps include more advanced workflows for different types of visitors and organisations and geo-fencing options.
