Celebrating Success at the 2025 PMI Awards

Congratulations to Shallu Tagra for winning the Project Professional of the Year at the PMI (Project Management Institute) New Zealand Awards for 2025.
Project Professional of the Year - Winner: Shallu Tagra
Shallu has been recognised for her leadership, drive, and skill in managing the 3-year digital transformation completed with New Zealand Bloodstock.
New Zealand Bloodstock is the premier equine thoroughbred and standardbred auction house in New Zealand. It sought a comprehensive technology overhaul to retire its obsolete and high-risk back-end sales systems. As their chosen partner, Theta, with Shallu at the helm as Senior Project Manager, we successfully delivered a transformative digital solution.
As a central figure in the New Zealand Bloodstock project, Shallu orchestrated multiple successful go-lives following an Agile-based approach. Utilising a hybrid delivery model, she managed evolving complexities with strategic foresight.
It is wonderful to have her hard work recognised not only by a happy customer but also through the PMI NZ Awards. Well done, Shallu!

Technology Project of the Year - Finalist
The combined New Zealand Bloodstock and Theta team that delivered the digital transformation project were also selected as a finalist in the 2025 Technology Project of the Year category at the PMI NZ Awards. We’re proud to have delivered a cloud-first, holistic solution that is critical to mitigate business risk and pave the way for future growth at New Zealand Bloodstock. Great work that all involved should feel proud to have been part of the solution.
The winner in the Technology Project of the Year category was the NZ Traveller Declaration project, nominated by New Zealand Customs. This was a multi-agency and multi-vendor project led by NZ Customs and has moved the process for all people entering New Zealand online. As the software development partner to this project, we’re proud to have played our part in the overarching success.
Many thanks to PMI NZ for hosting the awards and congratulations to all the finalists in all the categories. At Theta, we value the importance of robust project management methodologies supported by experienced and adaptable project managers, and we appreciate the work that PMI NZ does to advance the discipline and value of project management.
