Strengthening Theta’s AI Capability with Two New Specialists

As organisations increasingly look to AI to unlock efficiency, insight, and innovation, the demand for practical, scalable AI solutions continues to grow. To support our customers on this journey, we’re pleased to welcome two new AI specialists to Theta, who will also contribute to our existing GenAI Centre of Excellence.

Jake Kim, Principal Consultant, GenAI Specialist

Jake (Eun Jik) Kim is an AI strategy and product leader with more than 20 years of experience across telecommunications, fintech, mobile platforms, and AI-driven technologies in New Zealand, Korea, the U.S., and Europe. He combines deep technical expertise with executive product leadership to help organisations translate emerging technologies into commercially successful, customer-centric solutions.

Jake previously led Global Product Management for Samsung Pay at Samsung Electronics, overseeing launches in more than 10 international markets, including the U.S., China, Australia, and across Europe. He also served as Interim Head of Product for Samsung Bixby, the built-in AI assistant for Galaxy devices, during its initial global launch.

Most recently, as Chief Product Officer at POSICUBE, a Korean AI startup, Jake led the development of AI-powered products and services, with a strong focus on practical AI adoption and measurable business impact.

With a background in computer science and mathematics, an MBA from INSEAD, and hands-on expertise in AI strategy, large language models (LLMs), the OpenAI API, and data governance, Jake is passionate about helping organisations unlock value from data and AI. He’ll partner closely with customers to design scalable AI solutions, develop intelligent agents, and build robust data foundations that drive sustained competitive advantage.

Umair Khan, Lead Consultant, GenAI Specialist

Umair Mateen Khan (PhD) is a GenAI specialist, bringing more than a decade of hands-on experience delivering advanced AI solutions across healthcare, retail, manufacturing, insurance, agriculture, and the public sector. With a rare blend of deep technical expertise, academic rigour, and entrepreneurial leadership, Umair helps organisations transform emerging AI capabilities into practical, production-ready solutions.

Umair holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Otago and has worked across the full lifecycle of AI initiatives, from strategy and governance through to architecture, model development, deployment, and optimisation. His recent work focuses on Generative AI, large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI agents, and Responsible AI, primarily on Microsoft and Azure platforms.

Before re-joining Theta, Umair led and scaled AI teams globally, including serving as AI Lead/CTO for a Generative AI company where he defined product vision, delivered AI-driven platforms, and mentored multidisciplinary engineering teams. Earlier in his career, he founded Wizdojo Technologies, an AI startup delivering computer-vision-based retail analytics and smart city solutions, an experience that shaped his strong commercial and delivery mindset.

Across his roles, Umair has delivered measurable business outcomes, including:

  • Increasing user engagement by up to 40%
  • Reducing workplace accidents by 30% through AI-powered safety systems
  • Accelerating machine learning delivery with significant reductions in time-to-market

At Theta, Umair plays a key role in advancing GenAI initiatives and Centres of Excellence, advising clients on AI strategy, governance, and implementation, and translating complex AI concepts into clear, actionable outcomes for executives and delivery teams alike.
